Ancestry – 6 April 2018 – New Genealogy Record Releases & Updates
Gloucestershire, England, Church of England Burials, 1813-1988
An update, which means new records have been added, to this collection of indexed digitized images of original records. So if you have people from Gloucestershire run your names through this database.
London, England, Church of England
- Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812
- Births and Baptisms, 1813-1917
- Confirmation Records, 1838-1923
- Marriages and Banns, 1754-1932
- Deaths and Burials, 1813-2003
I understand that this is a massive update of new additions to all these London databases of indexed digitized images of original records. It would be an unusual family history that had no one moving to London to seek their fortune so I suggest you run your family names through these databases just to pick up any strays that thought that London streets were paved with gold!
FindMyPast – 6 April 2018 – New Genealogy Record Releases & Updates
England & Wales, Electoral Registers 1920
This is a great resource to bridge the gap between the 1911 Census and the 1939 Register. This doesn’t cover the whole of England and Wales as yet, but will be added to as time goes on. You don’t get as much information as a census, but it is useful never the less. Keep an eye out for updates and keep checking until your ancestors pop up!
Sussex Registers & Records
Two books of secondary sources for Sussex have been scanned and indexed. “Parish Registers of Hove & Preston” (1538-1812) and “Parochial History of Chiddingly” (1407-1847). These books contain baptisms, marriages, burials tombstone inscriptions, local history etc. Great if you happen to have ancestors from these parishes or close by.
Warwickshire Registers & Records
FindMyPast seems to be scanning lots of out of print books at the moment which is great as these books are either hard to find or if you do find a copy for sale they can be very expensive. Two books for Warwickshire digitised and indexed “Historical Warwickshire, Its Legendary Lore, Traditional Stories”, and Romantic Episodes” (published 1876) and “History of Coventry” (published 1870). Good background material.
Surrey Registers & Records
Printed copies of parish registers for Beddington, Chipstead & Titsey, Gatton & Sanderstead, Richmond and Wimbledon.
Suffolk Registers & Records
As well as parish registers for these Suffolk parishes there are wills, inventories and Hearth Tax Returns dating back as far as 1539. The parishes covered are Bury St Edmunds, West Stow & Wordwell, Rushbrook, Ickworth, Denham and Chillesford.
Nice to see some more Welsh records going online. 1,500+ monumental inscriptions for Llanwenog have been added to the Cardiganshire Burials.
Canadian Headstones Index
We are jumping over into Canada this week with an index of Canadian burial headstones. If you don’t have a FindMyPast subscription then you can view this Ontario collection online at https://canadianheadstones.com/
New South Wales, Railway Employment Records
If you have ancestors in Australia between 1856 – 1890 it will be worth looking at this collection to see if they worked on the great Australian railways.
