FindMyPast – 13 July 2018 – New Genealogy Record Releases & Updates
Berkshire, England – Leckhamstead and St Mary, Reading parish register transcripts
This new collection is made up of printed transcripts from Anguline Research Archives who sell them on DVD. Remember to always try and check the original records as there may be transcription errors and the originals may hold additional information. Having said that these type of records are great for ancestor clues!
Durham Registers & Records
These records are also transcripts and cover the parishes St Nicholas, St Margaret’s, St Mary in the South Bailey, Bishop Middleham, the Ancient Chapel of Esh in Lanchester, St Mary le Bow, Winston, Whickham, Whitburn, Ryton, Coniscliffe, Stanhope, Whorlton, and Ebchester as well as Dalton-Le-Dale, Seaham & Sherburn Hospital.
FindMyPast must have entered into an agreement with Anguline Research Archives as these Durham records also come from their DVD’s. The DVD’s cost from £10 upwards so check what FindMyPast has before you buy as it might be more cost effective to treat yourself to a FMP subscription.
Scotland, Jacobite Histories 1715-1745
23 titles regarding Jacobite history, includes detailed histories, song books, estate papers, lists, historical papers and memoirs written by those who participated. A good information source for those with Scottish ancestry.
Greater London Burial Index
The original source of these records includes the “City of London Burials, Middlesex Memorial Inscriptions, Middlesex & City of London Burials Index and the South London Burials Index” compiled by Cliff Webb, plus entries from the IGI (CLICK HERE for more information on the IGI). Worth looking at and then checking Deceased Online for more information. CLICK HERE for DeceasedOnline.
As I have mentioned before The British Newspaper Archive is part of the group that owns FindMyPast and a FMP subscription includes access to the newspaper archive. It seems to me that there is a time lag between newspapers being added to the British Newspaper Archive and FindMyPast, but I haven’t been able to confirm this. You can see below that the two lists don’t tally.
Here is a list of new additions via a FMP subscription.
- Witney Express and Oxfordshire and Midland Counties Herald (new title) – 1869-1887
- Evening Herald (Dublin) – 1897, 1899, 1901, 1907, 1996
- Irish Independent – 1913, 1915
- Music Hall and Theatre Review – 1910-1911

Are you aware that if you subscribe to FindMyPast’s Ultimate British & Irish Subscription then you also get access to the contents of the British Newspaper Archives website ? FindMyPast owns the British Newspaper Archives so they simply point their Ultimate and World Subscribers searches to the newspaper databases as part of their subscription. A yearly subscription to the British Newspaper Archives is about $112 depending on exchange rates and a year’s subscription to FindMyPast Ultimate British & Irish package is $179. So you can see that if you want access to the newspaper archive and also genealogy databases then buying a FindMyPast Ultimate British & Irish Subscription is the way to go. I have checked with FindMyPast and although their package is called the Ultimate British & Irish subscription it does give access to all their data-sets worldwide. I’ve pointed out that their title doesn’t make much sense!!
