do you try to help folk to find out in more detail about a baby born in the workhouse in Wigan in 1904 I have some detail which I will pass on if this is in your line. If not could you point me in the right direction of some one who might be interested , or any advice will help BRIAN

    • Hi Brian,
Thank you for your query. I would suggest that you obtain a birth certificate for the child born in Wigan workhouse if you haven’t already done so. The indexes may be found online at http://www.freebmd.org.uk and once the entry is found then note down the reference numbers etc.
The https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ website is where you can order and pay for the certificate online. The Lancashire Record Office may hold records for the workhouse and those records may give you more details of both mother and child.
      Hope this helps.
      Kind regards,
