Wallingford Berkshire Ancestors.

The Wallingford Historical & Archaeological Society hold a database of 67,000+ names of residents of Wallingford. These names have been extracted from a variety of sources including borough records, title deeds, wills, private papers and parish records. David Pedgley of the Society has offered to undertake a search of the database by email. A handsome offer which I am sure those with family from this town will eagerly take up.

I think the email address should be @waitrose.com
I have had dealings with this group of people before. I turned up on spec at the Wallingford Museum one Sunday afternoon and had a splendid time. After chatting with the volunteer staff for ages (wonderfully warm, welcoming and enthusiastic people with great local knowledge) and trotting round the museum itself I left my details and a question about an ancestor. A week or so later I had a phone call and more long conversations about the area and the people and answers to my original query. They a wonderful bunch. If if you have the opportunity, visit the museum; you have to pay but a single entry ticket is valid for a year. They also have a good selection of local books and publications.

Hi! I was born and raise din Wallingford, and emigrated to the USA Dec.31,1963.

I am working on my family tree and am already stuck on finding the marriage information on my paternal great grandfather, George Hedges. I believe he was born in Wallingford. DOB 1833, DOD 1903 father of Frederick Hedges whose second wife Frances, was my grandmother. I need to be able to verify that George’s wife was a Sarah Francies and find their marriage information.

Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated.

  4. Alicia Audette says:

Part of my Audette family landed in Wallingford in 1888. Iam trying to find a death certificate of Vitaline Girard Audette. She was born in Canada in 1854. She died in 1926, b I haven’t found where. Her stone is there in thecatholic cemetery, but that is all I can find. Also, how would I get into from the Meriden Record? thanks for your assistance.
