St Helens Townships Family History Society



   An independent group of family history transcribers and researchers, based in St Helens, who have a wealth of knowledge on local and national resources available to help you further your research. The aim of the group is to research family history whilst helping others. The group activity supports the Local History and Archive Library based in the Central Library depositing useful research books, films, fiches, transcripts and CD’s for use by anyone researching local family history.

    My family originated in Wiltshire, Originally my name would have been SPASH but my Great Grandfather dropped the SPASH but retained the MEAD this occurred in 1860, one of the Spash family, brother of my great grandfather X 4 moved to Prescot as a lead smelter His Name was Joseph he married a Ann Hunter and had several children including a son who married a local girl Emma Greer they had a daughter who died at the age of 13, Now I have traced most of the family to which my GrandfatherX4 was related to….but now owing to infirmity and age (80) I find it impractical to visit Lancashire, but seek any help you could possibly assist with. Thank you
