  1. Steve Roe says:

I am researching the Rowe/Roe family history and have
traced it back to Woodford near Thrapston. The earliest I have found
there is William Rowe 1638, but there were also Rowes in Raunds going
back to Thomas Rowe 1552 and in Hargrave Robert Rowe 1632. I think they
were Covenanters and therefore not recorded in Church records. Do you
know how I might find out more about The Rowes and how they arrived in
    Northampton?
    Thanks Steve

    • Hi Steve,
Well done in researching your family back to the early 1600′s. I would suggest an email to the Northampton Record Office asking if they hold any records for the Covenanters might prove helpful. Manorial Records for this time period in Woodford might mention the Rowe/Roe family and may indicate where they came from prior to settling there.
      Hope this helps.
      Regards,
      Linda

  2. Seeking professional assistance in a search in Northampton. On 6 Apr 1664, the Vestry Book for All Saints, Northampton, ordered that “Dr CONANT and wife should sit with Mrs COOKE.” I believe that Mrs COOKE may have been the sister of Elizabeth FARRIN who married Robert MASSEY at All Saints on 28 Jul 1655, and the widow of John COOKE, the executed Regicide who had prosecuted the legal case against King Charles. I wish to have Northampton records searched for the so far elusive marriage of John COOKE (then a Gray’s Inn Barrister) & his wife Frances in 1645. Can you point me to a researcher who might be able to undertake a commission to do so? I suppose her anme may have been FAREN, FARRIN, or even just FARR
