Charles Sale has authored an excellent website which offers a great service to genealogists. Charles has taken photographs of headstones from a large number of churchyards and cemeteries and having indexed them offers a free search service of the index. If a relevant entry is found an email request can be sent and Charles, bless him!, then emails you a copy of the actual photograph.

The website and service is free, but a donation is always gratefully received. I noticed that Charles comments that many people don’t email him any thanks and do not acknowledge his photographs and index. Come on fellow family historians people such as Charles really give us the icing on the cake for our family history and need to be recognised for it – so if Charles has helped you as least thank him!!
