Have you visited the National Archives Labs? This is the website where they try out new things before adding them to the main site. Always interesting to visit and well worth bookmarking so you take a look regularly to see what’s on offer.

The latest offering is the Domesday Book, you can search by place name and they say post code (bet they didn’t have postcodes in 1086!). You can then zoom in and out and around. A copy of the relevant page can be obtained for £2.
