In the April issue of WDYTYA magazine there is a very useful article about how to get the best out of www.familysearch.org. It is written by Sharon Hintz who is the director of the London Family History Centre. Sharon is an excellent genealogist who really knows her subject.
One of the items in the article caught my eye because I had used this dataset, but couldn’t seem to find it later on the website. It was Boyd’s Inhabitants of London and I had found it had one or two entries for my Pottinger family. I have to admit I hadn’t spent much time looking on the site and had put it in the “must get back and search for this properly” bin !!
Anyway below is the link for that dataset, but even if that doesn’t interest you take a look at all the other datasets on offer. There are items from all round the world, but Surrey Visitations, info on Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire & Royal and Noble Houses with Colonial American Connections caught my eye.
I’m off to have a happy few hours searching round this part of the Familysearch site as soon as I have finished this post!!
