All Cheshire Parish Registers online within reasonable time period

The Guild of One Name Studies has just twittered that “The Cheshire Parish Register Project hopes to make all Cheshire PRs available “in a reasonable period of time”.  This project has been around for a while with a dedicated band of volunteers working away at transcribing the registers. The project is run by Dr Colin Phillips, Dr Bernard Diaz and Jonathan Pepler, the late Dr Paul Hair was instrumental in the setting up of the project.

So good news for those with Cheshire ancestors, especially those who live outside the British Isles. Although not complete the website has a search facility so it is very worthwhile to check to see if “your parish” has been transcribed. Do read the Overview and Progress pages as they give a understanding of which parishes have been started and how far the transcription has been completed.

About Linda Elliott

History, particularly Family History is my passion. I have worked in libraries & archives, I have taught family history as extra mural courses and have worked as a professional family history researcher. It seemed a shame to have all this knowledge & experience and not share it with others.
