Irishness Certificates

View DetailsNot sure I would spend my hard earned cash on an Irishness Certificate, but it seems that the government of Ireland is hoping that plenty of others will.

If this appeals then read more about it in the Irish Times – click on the link below

Translation Help

Did you know that there are foreign language translation word lists on Ancestry.com ? They are under the Research Center tab at the top. Ancestry.co.uk doesn’t appear to have such lists, I suppose they assume that everything there is in English!!

The Home Front

clip_image002The battles fought by the men and women who were left to keep the UK together during WW2 are as interesting as those fought on foreign soil. Here is a website which gives lots of interesting background.

Here is a useful website with a variety of helpful items. I especially like the history time line set out on the front page and the Latin Primer.

Genealogical Maturity Model

image

All genealogists regardless of years of experience should go and assess themselves on the Ancestry Insider’s Genealogical Maturity Model. He has developed a way of easily assess one’s abilities, strengths and weaknesses and of showing where we need to be heading.

Great fun and also worthwhile! In particular the chocolate cake looks rather yummy, perhaps that’s what you get if you become to be a Stellar Genealogist :-)

The title of this website might lead you to think it is confined to Leitrim & Roscommon, but in actual fact it covers the whole of Ireland. Worth a look, one of the indexes might just hold the very clue you need!
