Three cheers for Essex Record Office, hope all other record offices follow in their footsteps. The ERO have just put online all the Essex parish registers prior to 1700, they have also indexed them so finding someone is a breeze. Scanned images of the originals are available for viewing. When I did a search for Hawkins it also showed that some wills have also been scanned and are available.
The ERO will put all their parish registers online eventually plus other documents in their care. The Seax index is great and very easy to use. Well done Essex Record Office for giving researchers exactly what they need.
